Mr. García-Jiménez has been involved in the environmental law practice for more than 25 years, since graduating from the University of Puerto Rico Law School in 1981. Mr. García-Jiménez also worked as counsel at the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board (“EQB”) from 1982 to 1989, serving as Director of the agency’s Legal Division from 1987 to 1989. He was instrumental in the development of the Regulations for the Control of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Solid Wastes, and has been an active participant in the promulgation of amendments to the Non-Hazardous Solid Waste, Biomedical Waste and Lead Paint Regulations. Mr. García-Jiménez has significant experience in the handling of hazardous waste RCRA Part B permits. Mr. García-Jiménez is a member of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association’s Environmental Work Group and chairs its Solid Waste Subcommittee; and of the Interamerican Association of Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences. In 2005, he was a member of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court Environmental Subcommittee of the Access to Justice Program.
Mr. García-Jiménez is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association; and is admitted to practice in Puerto Rico, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and in the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit.
